Using Dried Blood as Fertilizer


Is blood meal a fertilizer? Dried blood is high in nitrogen but low in both phosphorus and potash. Its greatest value is as a source of minor elements in soluble form. Unfortunately, it is too valuable an industrial material to be economical as a fertilizer.

Should I use dried blood meal? There are many other, more economical alternatives than using blood based fertilizers for most gardeners.
